The Fort Myers Miracle topped the Daytona Tortugas, 7-3, in Florida State League action at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Fort Myers pitcher and Aurora, Illinois, native John Gongloff. Diego Valdes earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 2-1. The third-place Miracle now have a win-loss record of 70-45.

Fort Myers needed the clutch hitting of Emanuel Sanchez to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Miracle on top, 7-3. For the game, Sanchez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Fort Myers manager Bashir Mothudi.
