The Tampa Yankees took on the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium.
The Tampa Yankees, despite a fine performance by Palm Beach pitcher Dennis Galeana, grabbed a 2-1 win at Roger Dean Stadium. Galeana allowed 1 run over 7 innings. The win makes Tampa 53-65.
Tampa used the timely hitting of Rickey O'Connor to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said Palm Beach manager Greg Cary. "Tough one to swallow."
