Blue Jays Get Dramatic 2-1 Win
|
The Fort Myers Miracle could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Vicente Jarquin into a win. Instead, the Dunedin Blue Jays prevailed, 2-1. Jarquin threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The Blue Jays, at 71-46, sit in second place in the FSL North.
The decisive blow was delivered by Steve Hawkins in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Plyler to win the game for Dunedin. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place was rockin'," said Hawkins.
