Stringfellow Lifts Cardinals to 8-3 Triumph
|
Phil Stringfellow left his imprint on the 8-3 Palm Beach win against the Tampa Yankees. Stringfellow was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Ricky Fifield, the winning pitcher, improved to 13-4. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. At 77-40, the Cardinals claim first place in the FSL South.
Aaron Scott had a big 3-run home run for the Cardinals in the bottom of the first inning. With Palm Beach leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Ryan Cryer, who leads the FSL with a 1.01 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Cardinals on top, 5-0.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Stringfellow.
