Threshers Snatch Late Win

The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals, 7-1, in Florida State League action at Bright House Field. Clearwater pitcher Mario Velasco had a standout performance. Daniel Flores snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 4-11 on the season. The Threshers now own a record of 35-84.
Arturo Diaz was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Clearwater. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, Diaz came through with a run-scoring walk. It put the Threshers in front, 2-1.
"Winning never gets dull," said Velasco.
