Cates Tosses Shutout Against Marauders
|
Steve Cates put a hex on the Bradenton Marauders in a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 5-hit gem.
"I felt good physically," he said after the game. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."
The Marauders were anything but comfortable against the 24-year-old Daytona Tortugas hurler, who fanned 7 and gave up 0 walks.
"Cates used his changeup very well, very effectively," said opposing manager Rob Suleymanov. "He threw it in hitter's counts."
So far this season Cates has a 5-8 record, 15 starts, 95 innings, 70 strikeouts and a 3.69 ERA.
