Yankees Get One-Run Win at Jupiter
|
Roger Dean Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Tampa Yankees used a great performance from Bob Searle, who is tied for 7th in the FSL in strikeouts with 149, to beat the Jupiter Hammerheads, 2-1, at Roger Dean Stadium. The winner was Searle. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Ruben Casas. Picking up the save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Jeff Tinch.
Tampa used a clutch at-bat from Nick Hale to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Yankees manager Mitch Renfer, "I like our chances."
Tampa has now won 5 in a row.
