The St. Lucie Mets got a sterling performance from pitcher Chris Merrick, but the Charlotte Stone Crabs still prevailed, 5-4. Merrick threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Brent Watson, who leads the FSL in holds with 7, was the winner in relief. His record is now 11-0. The losing pitcher was Anthony Jones. Charlotte goes to 77-47, St. Lucie to 60-64.

Pat Eteldrum, who is tied for 4th in the FSL in extra base hits with 47, helped out the Charlotte cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the pinch hitter drove in one run.

"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Eteldrum said in postgame remarks.
