Stone Crabs Beat Yankees, 3-1
|
The Charlotte Stone Crabs picked up a win at George M. Steinbrenner Field, topping the Tampa Yankees, 3-1. On the mound for Charlotte was right-hander Nick Bell. He played a principal role in the triumph. Bell got the win, improving to 8-13. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ricky Bermeo finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
In the top of the second, 24-year old right fielder Brad Duncan hit a 2-run home run. The 7th home run of the season for the Charlotte right fielder put the Stone Crabs on top, 2-0.
"Nick did a nice job," said Stone Crabs manager Juan Naranjo.
The Stone Crabs move to 57-68 with the win, while the Yankees drop to 55-70.
