Ahmet Mripa did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Clearwater Threshers from losing, 5-2, to the Tampa Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Mripa went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Tampa reliever Joe Coffey, now 3-1. The loser was Vantrell Wilson. Tampa, at 39-88, holds down 5th place in the FSL North.

Jake Casey, the Tampa third baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 4-0, Yankees. For the game, Casey was 1-3. He drove in 2 runs.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Tampa manager Nick Palacios. "It's usually not just one thing."
