Yankees Pick Up 5-3 Win Against Brevard County
|
The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at Space Coast Stadium, knocking off the Brevard County Manatees, 5-3. Starting pitcher Tim Davids played a key role in the triumph. Davids, now 9-10, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Tampa is 52-76 and Brevard County, with the loss, 90-38.
It could have been a different outcome for Tampa, had it not been for Robby Sims, the 24-year old center fielder . Sims contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Tampa up, 3-1.
Sims said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
