St. Lucie Mets starter Ethan Carter turned in an exceptional performance against the Tampa Yankees at Tradition Field, resulting in a St. Lucie win, 5-1. Carter yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 11. His record improves to 16-7. The defeat makes Tampa 56-73.

Brendan Francois had a big solo home run for the Mets in the bottom of the fifth inning. With St. Lucie leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Luker and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Mets on top, 2-0.

"I went after the hitters," said Carter. "No pussyfooting around."
