Tortugas Get One-Run Win at Palm Beach
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

The Daytona Tortugas beat the Palm Beach Cardinals, 6-5, at Roger Dean Stadium. The Tortugas got a fine performance from left fielder David Adams, who went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Daytona reliever Ricardo Blanco picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Dennis Galeana absorbed the loss. Dave King collected his 11th save.

Had Oscar Pena not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Pena hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tortugas.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Palm Beach manager Greg Cary. "But we decided not to take it."

Daytona, at 55-78, sits in 5th place in the FSL North.
