|
St. Lucie took on Jupiter in front of a lively crowd.
The St. Lucie Mets got a good effort from starter Ernesto Balderas in defeating the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Stadium. The final score was 7-2. Balderas, the winner, moves to 6-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 5 walks.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Kevin Dye? The St. Lucie shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Mets on top, 2-0. For the game, Dye had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Balderas.
The 5th-place Mets bumped their record to 66-69.
