St. Lucie Tops Jupiter, 6-4
|
St. Lucie took on Jupiter in front of a lively crowd.
Getting a good performance from second baseman Doug Rider, the St. Lucie Mets defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads, 6-4. Rider went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Mets. Nelson Fonseca, the winning pitcher, is now 6-2. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2.
Matt Gable, who is tied for 6th in the FSL in home runs with 14, helped out the St. Lucie cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with 2 walks.
"We're in the driver's seat," said Gable. "I like our chances."
At 85-49, the Mets claim first place in the FSL South.
