Daytona Tacks 8-7 Loss on Bradenton
|
The Bradenton Marauders could not turn a fine performance from shortstop Noah Gelderman into a win. Instead, the Daytona Tortugas prevailed, 8-7. Gelderman was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Allvaro Latro got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Mitch Jarrett closed out the game, earning his 3rd save.
Aaron Hamilton had a big bases-clearing double for the Tortugas in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Daytona leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Mat Summers and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tortugas ahead, 5-1.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Bradenton manager Cameron Morris. "But we decided not to take it."
Daytona occupies third place in the FSL North at 80-56.
