Daytona Shut Out by Coscia
|
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Alfredo Coscia of the Jupiter Hammerheads proved the point at Roger Dean Stadium today, holding the Daytona Tortugas to 1 hit in a complete game shutout victory.
"Coscia made us look real bad today," Tortugas manager Justin Rollins said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Coscia had 2 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Hammerheads took the 6-0 win.
Currently Coscia has a record of 6-9 with 79 strikeouts and 72 walks in 121.2 innings and a 4.73 ERA.
