Lugnuts Stick Hot Rods with 7-3 Loss
The Lansing Lugnuts downed the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 7-3, at Cooley Law School Stadium. The Lugnuts were led by Ricardo Huerta. Huerta went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Lansing reliever Manny Aleman snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Angelo Garza shouldered the loss. Keith Raisor earned the save, his 1st, for the Lugnuts.

The Hot Rods had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Lugnuts going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old third baseman Erik Stewart came to the plate. Stewart hit a 3-run home run on a 2-0 screwball from Bowling Green hurler Angelo Garza. It was Stewart's 1st home run of the year.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Huerta.

Bowling Green now is 1-2.
