Kernels Knock Off Bees at Veterans Memorial Stadium
Cedar Rapids pitcher Jon Sotelo did his part in helping his team beat the Burlington Bees, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Kevin Hair closed the game out for Cedar Rapids, earning his 2nd save. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Kernels hope to make a postseason run.

The Bees had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Kernels going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old shortstop Vítor Lamorr came to the plate. Lamorr hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-0 splitter from Burlington hurler Jonathan Swire. It was Lamorr's 1st double of the year.

"We'll build on this win," said Sotelo.
