The Clinton LumberKings picked up a win at Ashford University Field, knocking off the Kane County Cougars, 6-3. Starting pitcher Dave Zimmerman played a key role in the triumph. Nate Sharp recorded the save for Clinton, his 2nd of the season. The loss drops Kane County to 4-4.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Shane Mattila didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Kane County trailing 4-3, Mattila retired Rob Richardson to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Mattila, with a wink.
