Rubio Silences Peoria Bats
|
Cedar Rapids beat Peoria in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Cedar Rapids Kernels got a marvelous performance from pitcher Andres Rubio. The right-hander kept the Peoria offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 6-2 Cedar Rapids victory at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Cedar Rapids, now 6-2, is playing great baseball to start the year.
Rubio allowed 2 runs over 7 innings. He also racked up 7 strikeouts.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Cedar Rapids manager Chris Glasspoole.
