Dozer Park was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The Chiefs faced a stiff challenge from Clinton pitcher Tom Frye, but persevered to claim a win at Dozer Park. The final score was 2-1. Frye went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Chiefs raised their record to 8-1.

Ron Trowbridge had a big 2-run home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Peoria trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Tom Frye and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 2-1.
