Victory Pushes Bees Record to 7-3
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Burlington and Beloit from playing their scheduled game.
The Burlington Bees spoiled a good performance by Beloit first baseman Mike Steinman, bumping off Beloit, 7-4, at Community Field. Steinman went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike James, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 2.
Burlington took a 5-4 lead on Ethan Woolfolk's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Woolfolk hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Beloit pitcher Mike Zadrozny visibly frustrated.
"What we get, we earn," Woolfolk told the Burlington Times.
The Bees have hit the ground running, raising their record to 7-3. While it's still too soon to talk about Burlington hoisting their 6th Round 2 trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
