Cubs Use Late Rally to Win
The game between South Bend and West Michigan is in the books, despite a little rain.

The South Bend Cubs cut down the West Michigan Whitecaps by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Lorenzo Machuca. Machuca went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Cubs. Tyler Nielsen earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0.

South Bend used the timely hitting of Alex Rish to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Machuca.

With the win, South Bend climbs to 9-4.
