Kernels Prevail, 5-3, Over Quad Cities
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Quad Cities River Bandits take on the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Cedar Rapids Kernels starter Jose Bahena found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits. Bahena yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-0. Humberto Mejia closed the door for Cedar Rapids, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Erik Escobedo drove in one run for Cedar Rapids. The 21-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tristan Carroll. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
Cedar Rapids manager Dave Conley commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The Kernels raised their record to 9-4.
