Snappers Go Down to Defeat, 4-1
|
Kane County picked up a win at Harry C. Pohlman Field, bumping off the Beloit Snappers, 4-1. Pitcher Steve Frenn was a major reason the Cougars emerged victorious. Frenn, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks. The save was credited to Kyle Mason, his 2nd.
In the top of the first, Nick Gough delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Kane County catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Cougars in front, 4-1.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gough told the Kane County Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
Kane County sits at 9-7.
