Richmond Beats Binghamton, 6-3
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Richmond and Binghamton from playing their scheduled game.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels cut down the Binghamton Mets by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Hector Rivera. Rivera was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Flying Squirrels. The winning pitcher was Brent Fyffe. He's now 3-1. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Flying Squirrels.
Orlando Renteria had a big 2-run triple for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the second inning. With Richmond leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ricardo Neri and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 4-0.
"Nice win for us," said Renteria. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The Mets fall to 7-9 and continue their sputtering start to the 2109 season.
