Dragons Tag TinCaps with 11-2 Loss
|
The Dayton Dragons met little resistance from the Fort Wayne TinCaps, beating them, 11-2, at Parkview Field. Phil Young led the way. He went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for Dayton. Chris Wagner, who is tied for 3rd in the MID in quality starts with 4, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. So far, the 2112 season has been disappointing for Fort Wayne, now 10-14.
Joaquin Sanchez had a big 2-run double for the Dragons in the top of the third inning. With Dayton leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Israel Elizarraras and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dragons ahead, 4-0.
"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Dayton skipper Jorge Rosado.
