The Quad Cities River Bandits got a sterling performance from pitcher Jody Pascoe, but the Burlington Bees still prevailed, 6-4. Pascoe came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. Burlington reliever Rodrigo Santiago snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Rich Liverman shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Ruiz.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bobby Canales? The 21-year old second baseman Canales stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Burlington up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Canales.
The River Bandits, now 8-16, continue their sluggish start.
