Cubs Topple Bees, 3-0

South Bend pitcher Antonio Calderon did his part in helping his team beat the Burlington Bees, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Calderon yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. Omar Zaragoza nailed down the save.
Santiago Garza dealt the Bees a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and South Bend leading 1-0, Garza hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said South Bend manager Roy Ofstad.
South Bend is now 17-10.
