The Clinton LumberKings overcame a pretty good performance by South Bend third baseman Kevin Willmore, beating the Cubs, 5-4, at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. Willmore was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. Ryan Lentz picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 7 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-0. Matt Coulter nailed down the save.

Clinton used the bat of Tanner Hampton to get the win. The first baseman spanked a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the LumberKings ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it altered the outcome.

"We were the better team," crowed Hampton.

South Bend is now 9-19.
