Bees Fall Short, 2-1, at West Michigan
|
West Michigan took on Burlington in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Pat Blair, in particular, was fantastic. The West Michigan right-hander helped his team snag the win, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Blair, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Vence.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Whitecaps had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when catcher Justin Galkin hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Alex Chevez and made the score 2-0, Whitecaps. Galkin was 2-3 with 2 singles.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Blair. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
With the win, West Michigan goes to 14-14.
