Bowling Green Dials Up 3-2 Win
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods faced a tough opponent in Beloit pitcher Bryan Gainer, but found a way to pull out the victory at Harry C. Pohlman Field by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Gainer went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Bowling Green reliever Chris Ellis picked up the win, while Jamie Martin took the loss for Beloit. With the win, the Hot Rods hiked their record to 18-14.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Elliott Jones? The 27-year old catcher Jones stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Bowling Green up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Ah," said Jones in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
