Lugnuts Drop 7-2 Decision
|
The Kane County Cougars and Lansing Lugnuts completed their game despite the rain.
Jason Burtner was superb against Lansing. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the MID in strikeouts with 49, had a cutter that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Cougars victory. The score was 7-2. Burtner yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-1.
Mike Rubi, who is tied for 6th in the MID in RBI with 20, helped out the Kane County cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
"Jason was pounding the zone," said Kane County manager Vince Lindsay.
Kane County is now 23-13, Lansing 14-22.
