Dayton turned a good performance from starting pitcher Armando Galvez into a 4-2 triumph over the Peoria Chiefs at Dozer Park. Galvez, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Cody Cochran recorded the save for Dayton, his 6th of the season.
Dayton used a clutch at-bat from Justin Cowey to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dragons ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Felt great, felt really good," said Galvez.
The win puts Dayton at 22-13 this season.
