Whitecaps Rally For 6-3 Win
The South Bend Cubs got a superb performance from pitcher Fumikazu Nakahama, but the West Michigan Whitecaps still won the game, 6-3. Nakahama threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Vence. The Whitecaps saw their record improve to 22-15.

West Michigan used the timely hitting of Jeff Pettinato to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Pettinato attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
