Loons Come Back Late, Nip Dragons
|
Great Lakes right-hander Marty Palen helped his team edge Dayton by the score of 1-0. Palen kept the opposing lineup in check. Kevin Rivas locked down his 14th save. Great Lakes has an impressive 26-11 record.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Nestor Large came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dayton pitcher Rich Chene, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Great Lakes on top, 1-0.
Large called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
