Cougars Do In Snappers, 4-0
|
Kane County first baseman Elijah Higginson made his presence felt in the 4-0 Cougars triumph over the Beloit Snappers. Higginson went 1 for 1 with 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Mel Celaya came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 3-6. The 6th-place Snappers dropped to 14-24.
Jason Cooksey had a big solo home run for the Cougars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kane County leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher David Osorio and swatted a home run to center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cougars ahead, 2-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Higginson. "Wins have been hard to come by."
