Hot Rods Deal Whitecaps 5-2 Defeat
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the West Michigan Whitecaps, 5-2, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Ballpark. Bowling Green pitcher Jayden Wilkins had a standout performance. Wilkins yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-2. After today's action, Bowling Green sits at 20-21; West Michigan slips to 17-23.
Bowling Green used a well-timed hit by Scott Vollmann to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Hot Rods ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"This is not a one-man show," said Wilkins. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
