Chiefs Reel In 4-3 Win
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Peoria Chiefs and Quad Cities River Bandits.
The Peoria Chiefs knocked off the Quad Cities River Bandits, 4-3, in Midwest League action at Modern Woodmen Park. Peoria pitcher and Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native Carlos Blanco had an outstanding performance. Blanco, now 7-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Tony Hendrix was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Chad Hill had a direct impact on the outcome. Hill contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Peoria up, 4-1.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said Blanco, "and let the rest take care of itself."
Today's win puts Peoria at 22-19, while Quad Cities falls to 18-23.
