River Bandits Stumble, Lose 3-2 to LumberKings
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits were defeated, 3-2, by the Clinton LumberKings at Ashford University Field, even though Luis Castillo pitched well for Quad Cities. Kevin Murphy got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Antonio Jimenez earned the save for Clinton, his 7th.
Timely hitting helped the LumberKings beat the River Bandits. Prime example: the two-out single Kent McClendon registered in the bottom of the seventh. Facing David Cortez, McClendon gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a 2-run single.
McClendon called the win "a pick-me-upper."
The LumberKings go to 24-17, putting them third in the Western Division.
