Beloit got a big-time effort from pitcher Javier Amaya, but it wasn't enough to keep the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from winning the game, 4-1. Amaya threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Dave Buskey earned the save, his 17th, for the Timber Rattlers. Wisconsin has an impressive 31-11 record.
Wisconsin used the timely hitting of John Fitzsimmons to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Timber Rattlers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Fitzsimmons called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
