South Bend designated hitter Ed Medina had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Lake County Captains, 9-5. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Danny Morse in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Kerry Moubray took the loss. South Bend bumps their record to 22-23 with the win.

The Captains had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Cubs going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Andy Rustay came to the plate. Rustay hit a 2-run double on a 2-0 changeup from Lake County hurler Devin Cain. It was Rustay's 9th double of the year.

South Bend manager Roy Ofstad was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
