McEvoy Excels in 6-1 West Michigan Win
The West Michigan Whitecaps downed the South Bend Cubs, 6-1. The hitting star was left fielder Joe McEvoy. McEvoy went 2-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Whitecaps. Francisco Martinez earned the win for West Michigan. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. The 'W' lifts West Michigan's record to 28-17.

The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when McEvoy hit a grand slam home run off Colt Vasquez. It propelled the Whitecaps into the lead, 5-1.
