Bowling Green Falters Again, Loses, 7-5, to Great Lakes
|
The Great Lakes Loons defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 7-5. Left Fielder Grant Snakenberg deserved a large share of the credit. Snakenberg went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 for the Loons. Great Lakes reliever Bubba Obradovic got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Hector Alvarez was tagged with the loss. Justin Tieken closed the door for Great Lakes, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Freddy Sandoval was 2-4 with a triple for Great Lakes. The 27-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Hector Alvarez. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Great Lakes manager Ivan Cruz.
The 6th-place Hot Rods dropped to 20-27.
