Kernels Get Clutch Win Versus Peoria
Peoria wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Mario Delgado, losing to Cedar Rapids, 2-1, at Dozer Park. Marcos Sanchez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Bill Cruz, who is tied for 4th in the MID in saves with 7, was tagged with the loss. The setback makes Peoria 34-15.

Cedar Rapids needed the clutch hitting of Ricky Bermea to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kernels on top, 2-1. For the game, Bermea had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Bermea.
