The Lansing Lugnuts, despite a fine performance by Great Lakes pitcher Chris Thompson, grabbed a 3-1 win at Dow Diamond. Thompson allowed 3 runs over 8 innings. Lansing is in third place in the Eastern Division with a record of 28-21.

Kyle Long had a big solo home run for the Lugnuts in the top of the sixth inning. With Lansing leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Chris Thompson, who is tied for 4th in the MID in quality starts with 7, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Lugnuts on top, 2-0.
