River Bandits Nudge Past LumberKings, 3-2
|
Quad Cities River Bandits starter Jared Kersenbrock found his groove in his team's 3-2 win over the Clinton LumberKings. Kersenbrock yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-0. Quad Cities is first in the Western Division with a record of 33-17.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Quad Cities trailing 2-1, Jeff Zeigler hit a fastball from Rui Coucelo to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the River Bandits had a walk-off win.
"This is a very good team," said Zeigler. "We have the chance to do something special."
