Kane County Dismisses Peoria, 5-3
The Kane County Cougars took Peoria pitcher Joe Maag's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Dozer Park. The final score had Kane County getting past the Chiefs, 5-3. Maag went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. The win went to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Karl Noe took the loss. Will Cascalho earned his 4th save, after closing out the game.

Kane County used the clutch hitting of Elijah Higginson to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Cougars the lead, 5-1. For the game, Higginson had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Cougars manager Robby Bilodeau. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

The last-place Cougars improved to 15-36.
