In a low-scoring tilt between the Burlington Bees and the Quad Cities River Bandits, 20-year old right-handed pitcher Patrício Velho was the difference-maker. The Burlington right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Milt Shannon stitched up the save, his 12th. Burlington now sits at 20-33, while Quad Cities falls to 24-29.

Burlington third baseman Kevin Thompson helped the Bees go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Thompson hit a run-scoring single off Quad Cities pitcher Elias Placencia.

Thompson was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Burlington Today, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
