The Peoria Chiefs wiggled past the Beloit Snappers, 3-2, at Harry C. Pohlman Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Peoria pitcher Natik Taghiyeva. The triumph puts Peoria at 36-18 for the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 11th, with the game tied, Bob Barrette was at the plate when Peoria scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Chiefs to go in front, 2-1.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Peoria manager Tommy Davenport.
