Big Day for Miller as Kernels Down LumberKings, 11-9
|
The Cedar Rapids Kernels beat the Clinton LumberKings, 11-9, at Ashford University Field. Cedar Rapids left fielder Brian Miller had an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Press Kitchen got the save, the 2nd for him this season. With the win over Clinton, the Kernels improved to 21-34.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the eighth inning when the Kernels sent 21-year-old center fielder Chris Kemper to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Cedar Rapids on top, 11-9.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Kemper.
