The Reading Fightin Phils picked up a win at Hadlock Field, knocking off the Portland Sea Dogs, 4-1. On the mound for Reading was right-hander Oscar Lopez. He played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Lopez. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Justin Batey. Alan Ziemer closed the door for Reading, picking up his 7th save of the year.

In the bottom of the eighth, Evan Sowles stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Sea Dogs were trailing 4-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Alan Ziemer made a terrific pitch and Sowles flied out. Gone was the dream of a Portland comeback.
